PRATT, Gary

Title:
Researcher

As an undergraduate Garry trained as an archaeologist at the University of Bristol, and under the supervision of Professor Peter Warren, specialized in Minoan archaeology, including the field research and production of a survey exploring the foundations of Knossos on Crete. Garry didn’t pursue archaeology academically after this, but instead had a fast track career in business, both in the US and across Europe. Most notably Garry founded, built and sold a ground breaking digital educational publishing company, Teachit. Garry is a serial entrepreneur, founding several other successful ventures and still works as a strategic consultant to the world’s biggest educational publishers. Garry kept up a practical involvement in archaeology through his extensive fieldwork for the Bath Archaeological Society, based in the World Heritage city of Bath. Having sold his company, Garry returned to the University to Bristol, gaining his MA (Distinction) in 2015. As a Research Fellow at the university he has, since then, delivered several papers at archaeological conferences, is in the process of writing an article for the JMA and is about to start a PhD early in 2017. Garry is also the co-founder of Digworld Travel Ltd, a new venture with the aim of helping sustainable fund archaeological fieldwork through tourism.
